Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Marcil family has been involved with WDAY from start. we celebrate our 60th, WDAY news director Jeff Nelson sits down with Bill Marcil Sr. and Bill Marcil Jr. to talk about the past, present and future of WDAY.

WDAY is an institution and I can't say enough about how respectful we are and how fortunate we are as a family to be a part of this wonderful organization.

Marcil Jr.: “And the tradition that WDAY has had over the last 60 years is tremendous.”

We've also had a little fun along the way.

Marcil Sr.: “35 years ago Jack was the general manager of the station and he said Jack we have to file suit against the University of Minnesota journalism school and Jack said, why do you want to do that Dewey? They got a video from my weather presentation and they're using that as a teaching aid on how not to present the weather. So old Jack said Dewey just send them the rating books.”

What can we expect from WDAY in the next 60 years?

Marcil Sr.: “There's always going to be demand for good local news and that stations that can provide local news local program local public service will do well.”

Marcil Jr.: “We're going to continue to commit to being number one and continue to earn that trust that our audience has given to us. The family we're committed to local ownership and we're committed to continue to earn the trust that the audience has put into us for the last 60 years as we move forward.”
