West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It hasn't been the start any Viking fan or player was hoping for 0-2 +both to division rivals. Today though, students at West Fargo got a rare treat to meet and talk to a pro football player, as Viking running back Toby Gerhart came to town.
Jody: Toby Gerhart spoke to some Packer fans, at West Fargo High school, what was the main message you wanted to get across to these kids, what was it?
Toby Gerhart – Vikings Runningback: “It was to eat breakfast, incorporate dairy, and be active 60 minutes a day. Breakfast gets you kick started, gets you going, and keeps you active. It helps you in school, helps in behavior, test score and everything. It’s the main message I’m trying to get across to them.”
Jody: “For you it's a contract year. What do you do that every play counts for you?”
Toby Gerhart: “I treat it no different than any other year. My opportunities are limited with a guy like Adrian playing in front of me. So, whenever I'm out there have to make most of it. I’m not trying to do anything special or do anything different.”
Jody: “Off to 0-2 start; is it a big concern right now your record or think you can get back on track?
Toby Gerhart: “Don't want to start 0-2, but there's no panic. It's September now, it's early in the season, we haven't played a home game yet. We have a chance this weekend to get on the right path and get a win. We’re close. We’d like to think we should have won last weekend, but now we have to put that behind us and get that first win.”
Jody: “Toby Gerhart and the Vikings are hosting Cleveland this weekend.”
One stat that bears mentioning; over the past 4 years, 30 teams have started 0-2. None of them have made the playoffs.
