Williston bars homeless from sleeping at church

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — The city of Williston has denied a permit to allow homeless people to stay at a local church.

Planning and zoning director Kent Jarcki tells the Minot Daily News that that the Concordia Lutheran Church does not meet fire and safety codes to be used as a residence.

Pastor Jay Reinke declined to comment on the issue.

Williston does not have a homeless shelter.
