FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A charity that was promoted by barefoot performances from North Dakota's two Division I men's basketball coaches is handing out shoes in Fargo.

Samaritan's Feet is a non-profit organization that provides new shoes for children. It was founded by a Nigerian native who attended college at Lake Region State in Devils Lake.

North Dakota State head coach Saul Phillips and University of North Dakota head coach Brian Jones helped raise money for the project by taking off their shoes when the teams played last December.

Program officials say as many as 300 pairs of shoes will be distributed Sunday afternoon during an event at the Fercho YMCA in downtown Fargo.
