Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Hundreds of dog lovers gathered in Lindenwood Park Saturday morning just in time to beat the rain showers all to take part in the 23rd annual Paws Walk.
Some dogs have big strides; other dogs have small strides, but the one thing that all of these dogs have in common is their strides to help strays."
The walk, led by Rudy the Rescue Dog, is the Humane Society of Fargo-Moorhead's largest fundraiser of the year.
This year's goal is to raise $55,000.
One big help: Jordahl Custom Homes Inc., which is matching all donations of $75 or more up to $15,000.
The money raised goes toward many uses during the year.
Heather Klefstad- HSFM PR Coordinator: "we just rely on the community to buy the donation to keep our doors open for the vetrinary care, the food, the shelter, spay, neuter procedures. It all goes directly towards the animals at the shelter."
The shelter rescues an average of 700 animals a year so every penny counts.
The walk raised over $47,000; a little short of their goal.
A grand total will be posted on the Humane Society's Facebook page and website later this week.
