Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - They're digging dirt for a planned multi-million dollar project at Essentia Health in South Fargo.

The 115,000 square foot tower will be on the south side of the existing hospital and clinic on 32nd Avenue. There are four floors planned. A new emergency and trauma department will be built, along with space for new MRI, CT, and X-Ray technology.

The third floor will house a 28-bed medical surgical unit. Fourth floor will be home to intensive care and other surgical patients. The $50 million project will be done in early 2015.

Dr. Tony Hamilton - Essentia Emergency Medicine: "Doubling volume in seven to 10 years is a nice steady growth pattern. We've tripled our volume in the last seven years. Right now we see 3,300-3,600 patients a month."

A new distribution center is also planned south of 32nd Avenue and west of I-29. Essentia's South University Clinic will also be renovated.
