Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Rain that came after weeks of dry weather could help some crops; but for others, it is too little, too late.

Some crops are just too far gone for any amount of rain to help.

But for those that can still be saved, today's rainfall is a welcome relief.

Soybeans are in particularly rough shape, while corn is faring a little better, depending on location and other factors.

John Kringler- NDSU Extension Agent: "Somewhat by area, but actually field to field; it could make a difference because of when it was planted, and somewhat on soil type and those types of things."

Rainfall is still below what is needed for the season.
