Walsh County, ND (WDAY TV) - Authorities believe they've found and recovered the body of a Minto farmer. He's been missing since April 29th.

55-year-old Guy Miller was found in the Forest River about a mile west of Minto.

A massive search began as soon as Guy Miller went missing this spring while driving near high water. This is the area where he was last seen by a friend who went to get help. When the friend returned, Miller had been swept away, and his truck became lodged in this coulee.

Sheriff Lauren Wild- Walsh County: “You can't stop nature.”

For more than four months, there have been no answers for Miller's family.

Katie Marino- Guy’s Sister: “It would get disheartening when they would call and say he hadn't been found. “

Searches continued through the summer, but still no sign.

Tony Miller- Guy’s Brother: “That's where it hit me that this is going to be next to impossible to find him by actively searching. It's going to take an accident or a miracle or somebody stumbling across him, and that's what happened. “

Kelly Schanilec- Guy’s Sister: “He just showed up, like he usually does; unannounced and late.”

Right here, along the edge of the Forest River, is where Guy Miller's body was found.

Wild: “What's happened here is the water's gone down so much more than we've had. It's at the lowest level all summer. “

Some people attending a get-together at this house near the Forest River spotted Miller's body Saturday. Authorities got the call around 9 p.m.

Marino: “It's just that final step that needed to happen.”

Schanilec: “We're rejoicing, and yet we still have sadness in our heart. We have come to the grips that we will never see him again.”

Miller: “I can't stress enough for people to just take care of those around you and live every day like it's your last because that's what we went through.”

A cross and this shovel used to recover Miller's body are the only signs left of what happened here.

Authorities will use dental records to confirm the body is that of Guy Miller.
