Glyndon, MN (WDAY TV) – Racers revved their engines at the Buffalo River track for the last time; at least for this season.
Allison Petermann- Legendary Class Racer: “Go as fast as you can, but not too fast so you can make the turns."
This 19-year-old racer has been behind the wheel for more than five years ever since her dad let her handle the "road hog.”
Allison Petermann: "I was just kind of hooked after that."
Now, Allison Petermann has graduated to this Mod- 4: A Modified 4 cylinder race car.
Following close behind is her younger brother. He drives this car called a “Legendary.”
Brady Petermann- Legendary Class Racer: "34 or 37 Chevy coupe."
Brady Petermann's only 14, but he's already racked up two plus years of experience.
Brady Petermann: "When you race, you gotta race smart."
Not to mention this hardware for taking home a national title… But it's not a cheap sport to keep his car in tip-top shape. Brady estimates a grand is poured into the coupe every year.
Brady Petermann: "Yeah, they're more spendy than like what my dad used to race. He used to race a peer stock."
Soon, he'll break even though, especially if he and his dad keep up the lucky streak; not a simple task for the amount of people packed in the track.
And in this last competition, there are about 200 racers.
Brady Petermann: "There's quite a few cars around here."
Winners of this last wrap-up race will be named King of the cob.
Allison Petermann: “Or in this case, it would be Queen of the cob."
And hold the title until next year.
In Sunday night's race, Allison wasn't able to finish. She spun out with three laps left. Brady finished sixth.
Jesse Skalisky won the legend round to wrap up the season.
