Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A Fargo sex offender is back in jail after an internet luring investigation that got its start in Colorado.

Police say Jeffrey Buckmeier contacted who he thought was a young girl, but was actually an undercover investigator.

Police say this man- 34 year old Jeffrey Buckmeier had been talking to who he thought was a young girl online, trying to get her to engage in sexual contact. But what he didn't know, is he was actually talking to a Colorado investigator.

Vettel: "He believed he was talking to a female under the age of 15. We make it very clear through the investigation that even though there is deception, there is every opportunity for this person to back out."

Police say not only did Buckmeier NOT back out... But kept the conversation going for about a month.

That's when a child sex offender investigations unit based in Colorado... Contacted Fargo Police.

Police here searched Buckmeier's North Fargo apartment today, seized several items, and made the arrest.

Vettel: "We want to make sure we're doing the right thing by the public, to insure the safety of not just everyone involved, but specifically the most innocent of our population, that being our children."

Buckmeier was already a registered sex offender... After an indecent exposure conviction back in 2008, also involving victims under the age of 15.

Luring a minor is a class B Felony. If convicted, Buckmeier faces up to 10 years in prison and a 10-thousand dollar fine... And could also be charged in Colorado.
