Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Some kindergarten classes had to be moved to the school district's Probstfield Education Center after a bump in enrollment.

For the first time since the early 90s, Moorhead's kindergarten enrollment has exceeded 500 students at 503.

Two classes were moved from elementary schools to the Probstfield building, which now has ten kindergarten sections.

School officials attribute the increase to community growth and the availability of all-day kindergarten.

Lynne Kovash- Moorhead Superintendent: "Full day has certainly helped our enrollment because there were many options for parents to look at other school districts or private schools for full day. Now, Moorhead has that option for full day. Also, I think our community is growing."

K-12 enrollment in Moorhead is 5,685 students; up 21 students from last year at this time.

Enrollment has increased steadily since 2006 after 11 years of decline.
