GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — University of North Dakota hockey forward Dan Senkbeil says he is transferring to the University of Vermont, where he will return to his natural position of defenseman.

The former UND walk-on will have to sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules. He will have two years of eligibility left beginning in 2014-15.

The Grand Forks Herald reports that Senkbeil was moved to forward his first season at UND because of a rash of injuries. He remained at that position last season, suiting up 19 times in 42 games. He had one goal and four assists in 49 career games at UND.
