Climax, MN (WDAY TV) -- Nearly half a million dollars worth of repairs to the Climax-Shelly school building are wrapping up just in time for classes to start on Tuesday.

A big chunk of the money went to the science room. All of the floors in the classrooms and offices were replaced, and the cafeteria now has tile instead of carpet.

A bond is being used to finance the projects. It was approved by 85 percent of the voters in the school district. The average household will pay an extra $75 a year for 10 years.

The Climax-Shelly superintendent says the investment lets students know that they're important.

Norm Baumgarn says, "I think probably the biggest impact is their attitude is going to be better. They can see that the school, the community and the board, everyone's working together to promote education."

Baumgarn says there's still about $113,000 left to spend on other projects, which could include remodeling the bus garage and replacing windows.
