Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The Bison football team came up big last night, opening their season with an upset win over Big 12 opponent Kansas State.
The greatest win in NDSU history may be reserved for the national championships, but it's very likely that Kansas State was the toughest team they've ever beat.
After falling behind 21-7 in the 3rd, the NDSU defense helped swing the momentum, this Kyle Emanuel sack led to NDSU getting the ball back down 4 with 9 minutes left.
And that's when senior quarterback Brock Jensen orchestrated one of the most memorable drives in Bison history, capping an 8 and a half minute drive with a 1-yard touchdown run, for the 24-21 upset victory.
The win thrust NDSU into the national spotlight, something the Athletic Director isn't taking for granted.
NDSU Athletic Director, Gene Taylor, says, "Those kind of things and those kinds of exposures just really help our program in so many ways. Not just football all of our teams and the University as well. You just can't put a price tag on something like this and it's just been phenomenal."
