GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The University of North Dakota is set to open the football season at home against Valparaiso.

The Grand Forks college is coming off a 5-6 season a year ago, including a 3-5 record in its first year in the Big Sky Conference.

UND was picked to finish seventh in the league in preseason polls by media and coaches.

Coach Chris Mussman's team is one of just two teams in the Football Championship Subdivision that plays its first four games at home. UND will follow with games against South Dakota State on Sept. 7, Montana on Sept. 14 and Montana State on Sept. 28, all at the Alerus Center.

Kickoff against Valparaiso is 7 p.m. Thursday.
