Panicked brides' "big day" now saved

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Panicked brides, who've been left scrambling for wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses after The Bridal Shop in Fargo suddenly closed, are getting some help.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Panicked brides, who've been left scrambling for wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses after The Bridal Shop in Fargo suddenly closed, are getting some help.

Local businesses are stepping in to help save the "big" day.

Jill Rewertz will walk down the aisle and say “I do” in just 23 days. Everything is in order: The cake, decorations and food. The only thing missing: Her bridesmaid dresses.

Jill Rewertz- Harwood: “I just wish that someone could have just told us, like ‘the shipment just isn't looking good,’ or just give me an answer.”

Rewertz ordered four bridesmaid dresses in early April from the Bridal Shop, which were paid in full. She was told she'd have her dresses in early August. For a month, she's been calling the Bridal Shop only to get the run around.

Rewertz: “It started off the third week in August, then it was the last week of August, and then September 4th, and September 4th was when they said that that's probably about the time that they should be here.”

Since learning the Bridal Shop closed on Monday, she went to LeeAnne's Bridal for help. They found out her dresses are sitting in a warehouse waiting for payment from the Bridal Shop. Now, thanks to LeeAnne's, the dresses are once again paid in full and now truly on their way.

After all the confusion and disappointment, Rewertz says the only thing she wants is her money back, and if she doesn't get it back, she'll be out nearly $640.

Reweertz: I don't want them to pay for two dresses when we're only getting one.

David's Bridal is another business stepping in to lend a hand offering brides 40 percent off on gowns, shoes and accessories until September 8th. All a bride has to do is bring in her Bridal Shop receipt.

Dawn Chadwick- David’s Bridal Store Manager: “We're really trying to help those brides that are in a crunch. You know, definitely those brides getting married next year, we can definitely help you. Six months is all we need, and even times, less than that.”

Rewertz says after this ordeal, 23 days can't come soon enough so she’ll hear wedding bells and the sound of the plane roaring off to a relaxing honeymoon.

Strauss clothing is helping out with tuxes for the grooms.
