Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - It was a surprise and grand entrance for an unannounced guest at Trinity Lutheran church in Moorhead today. A young deer crashed through two windows and ended up in a courtyard there.

The young buck - obviously stressed from injuries it received from crashing through windows - ended up in the Trinity Church courtyard; probably the best scenario of all. It was unable to travel anywhere else, and gave law enforcement and animal control a chance to assess the condition of the deer. For church staff working in the office and welcome desk at Trinity, it all happened fast.

Helen Krause - Trinity Volunteer: "A lot of noise and glass crushing, and pretty soon I saw the deer come into the office. He pushed the door open and went for a window and fell backward, went through another window and broke that, and then came back toward me as I'm sitting at the reception desk."

Helen Krause, not sure what to do, took the only obvious option: Get out of the office and away from the bleeding deer.

Helen Krause: "I crawled through the window."

It is church directory picture day, so staff tried to clean up broken glass and blood trails around the church before the crowds arrived.

Moorhead Police worked with the DNR for procedures on putting the deer down.
