Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - New students at Concordia aren't just learning class schedules and how to adjust to dorm life; they're also learning about giving back.

Concordia held their 20th annual Hands for Change outreach Monday. More than 700 first year students are sent out into the community to volunteer in 40 different service projects.

Students washed service vehicles and cleaned mobile disaster units at the Red Cross. They say it's great to learn lessons outside the classroom.

Adam Fordahl - Sophomore: "My favorite part is just kind of helping out with people that you don't really know, and you get to know them pretty well just while you're helping out and volunteering."

Other service projects included painting, landscaping, and organizing.
