Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- One day your playing high school football, and 9 months later you're making your college debut on the home field of a Big Twelve opponent that spent parts of last year ranked number one in the country.
Sounds like fun doesn't it? That's what NDSU true freshmen linebackers Pierre Gee-Tucker and Nick DeLuca are in line for on Friday night
when the Bison open the year at Kansas State.
Craig Bohl announced today that both will play, which makes sense considering the team's depth at that position has been a major concern over the last few years.
These guys don't look like freshmen, Deluca is 6-3, 230 and Gee-Tucker is a 6-foot 208 pounder. And they're ready to make an impact.
Pierre Gee-Tucker- NDSU Fr. LB: "I play hard and I play fast. You have to play fast at this level and that's one of the attributes that I think I have. So, I feel like I can help the team at the moment."
Nick Deluca- NDSU Fr. LB: "You know, it's definitely a big difference and a big jump. On defense there is a lot of calls that you have to get used to, but we have a lot of upperclassmen help."
Craig Bohl- NDSU Head Coach: "Linebacker in a tampa two is a complicated position. For those guys to come in and work through that. They're not up to speed yet, but certainly their value on special teams is huge so that's going to be their biggest contribution right now."
Another true freshman Chase Morlock will make the trip. But, it's uncertain if the Moorhead product will see playing time.
