BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Two more people have applied to be North Dakota University System interim chancellor, bringing the total to 16.
The Forum reports officials from Ohio State University and Indiana University-Purdue University-Fort Wayne have joined the pool of applicants.
The state Board of Higher Education hopes to have an interim chancellor in place by the end of September. The person will serve at least until a November 2014 public vote on whether to abolish the board and chancellor's office and replace it with a three-member commission appointed by the governor.
Acting Chancellor Larry Skogen is among the applicants to be interim chancellor. The Bismarck State College president was named to temporarily fill the chancellor's role when the board voted earlier this year to buy out the contract of Chancellor Hamid Shirvani.
