Dilworth, MN (WDAY TV) - A local church was serving up burgers Monday night to make sure Moorhead students are fed well during the school year.

In partnership with the Great Plains Food Bank, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd held its fourth annual Burger Bash. For a free-will donation people got a burger and all the fixings tonight at the Dilworth VFW. The money goes to the Backpack Buddies program. It sends home food with kids in need on the weekend in Moorhead Schools when kids aren't ensured to get a good meal.

Mark Naumann - Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd: "We just think it's really something that we call a random act of kindness, in a sense that we don't know who the individual kids are, we just know a number."

Teachers and administrators nominate the students. Other churches in the area do similar sponsorships.
