Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A reported assault and robbery in Fargo last night has authorities questioning some of the information provided to them by the victim.
Authorities say it happened last night at 10:20 in the 400 block of 21st Avenue South. Twenty-one year-old Wyatt Brown of Moorhead told police he was driving when he was confronted by three men at gunpoint.
Lt. Joel Vettel - Fargo Police Department: "Another black male opened up the car door and pulled him out of the vehicle, at the same time striking him in the head with an unknown object."
Brown told police the men took $100 from his wallet. He then drove to a convenience store on 13th Avenue, where two police officers asked him how he got injured. No arrests have been made, and there are no suspects, but Brown says he got a good look at one of the men.
A Sunday drive home in a familiar neighborhood took a turn for the worse at a four-way stop.
Wyatt Brown - Victim: "I slowly stopped and once I stopped was when someone pulled the gun on me. He was like 'Get out of the car, I'm going to shoot you if you don't get out.'"
Brown says he was defenseless.
Wyatt Brown: "I have my hands out. Don't shoot, whatever."
He says he slowly took the keys out of the ignition and unlocked his doors.
Wyatt Brown: "Two people ran up from behind and opened my door and just grabbed me by the back of my shirt and just threw me, so I rolled and the next thing I'm on the ground and they're beating the crap out of me."
Brown says he'd be left bloody with a gash in his head.
Authorities say after the alleged attack Brown, came to the Kum and Go. It was then he would run into two police officers. Now, an investigation continues into what led up to the act of violence.
Wyatt Brown: "You know, nobody knew what way I was taking home. I hadn't talked to anybody. I was leaving my friends house and heading back to mine."
Brown says he got a good look at the gunman and would be able to point him out in a line-up. Vettel says the men are described as three black males. Two of them were wearing hooded sweatshirts, one of them with dreadlocks.
