Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Military families and veterans received some much needed assistance today in north Fargo. The Fargo Military Service Center in Fargo held an open house today to encourage military families and veterans to become more familiar with the programs and services provided by the service centers.

The open house featured local veteran service officers, a Vet Center mobile unit, and representatives of the North Dakota Job Service Veterans Program to assist service members, veterans and their families.

Sergeant First Class Matthew Mitzel - Military Service Center: "When you're a family member and your spouse is away on deployment or even training, there are a lot of those unknown questions that come up that you might not feel comfortable asking somebody, or somebody that's not going through the same things you are. So, we are the place where we can do that."

Last year over 4,500 individuals in North Dakota were assisted through events and activities provided by the service center.
