Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - In the world of college football, typically a third year with a coaching staff is when things start to click. Steve Laqua is hoping that's what happens this season at MSU-Moorhead.

The Dragons opened practice this morning with another big class of freshmen, including quarterback Demetrius Carr, who has a great chance to win the starting job. Laqua has taken a different approach, recruiting mostly local talent and says his team needs to start winning.

Steve Laqua - Dragons Head Coach: "We are certainly ahead of where we were as a coaching staff. It normally takes four years to put your mark on that. We feel like with the young guys we got our mark, we got it stamped and we are looking for good things to happen."

Adam Jiskra - Sophomore Wide Receiver: "No one has guaranteed spots. We've got to set that tone right away, play every rep like it's a game and you are out here earning a spot. It's pretty important to set the tone, that's what we are trying to do today, so it was an pretty important day."
