Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Attempted murder, burglary and assault; those are just some of the charges 4 men are facing after a home break-in and chase through Moorhead this morning.
Twenty-two year-old Emmanual Kennedy, 21 year-old Curtis Nichols, 20 year-old Trei Johnson, and 19 year-old Ermin Adzemovic are in the Clay County Jail facing charges of burglary, assault, attempted murder, and fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
Police say it started here at 1321 14th Street South just after 2 Thursday morning. The victim called police saying the home was being burglarized and a shot had been fired.
Lieutenant Brad Penas, Moorhead Police Department: "The shot was fired inside the residence, and it was in the direction of one of the victims."
Once police arrived, the 4 suspects got in their car and fled.
Lieutenant Brad Penas: "Officers arrived and saw the car fleeing. That resulted in a short pursuit."
The short pursuit ended at 17th Street South and 6th Avenue in front of Nemzek Hall on the MSUM Campus. All four suspects got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. They were arrested within minutes.
Lieutenant Brad Penas: "We believe everyone is in custody. It does not appear to be a random act, and I'd say at least one of the suspects was known to the victim."
One victim was injured and treated at the scene after being struck by the stalk of the gun. Bryan Folstad was on his way home from a friend's and witnessed the entire situation.
Bryan Folstad - Witness: "No, I wasn't expecting this, that's for sure."
Folstad ran to his house just blocks away to get his camera to capture the commotion on video.
Bryan Folstad: "It looked like a silver car going right down 17th Street South like 50 or 60 miles an hour. Two cops followed right behind and they cut me off when I was long boarding across the street."
Police say drug paraphernalia and the firearm were found in the suspect's vehicle. Police are still trying to determine a motive.
