Strasburg residents to vote on school renovation

STRASBURG, N.D. (AP) — Residents of Strasburg will vote next month on whether to renovate part of the school in the south central North Dakota town.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that the school board is asking voters on Sept. 10 to approve a $2.9 million project, and allow the school district to raise its debt limit to pay for construction.

The board wants to renovate the 1935 portion of the K-12 school that currently houses the gym, kitchen, dining hall and stage. Superintendent Mary Larson says the state Department of Public Instruction has signed off on the project.

The project would raise property taxes by about $21 per year on a home valued at $50,000.
