Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- It's a huge week for some local 13-year olds, that's because for the first time in close to 30 years, Fargo is sending a team to the Babe Ruth World Series, And it's a bond between that team from 1984 and this year.

When you're 13 years old, winning a state title might be the best feeling in the world.

Colton Frey- Fargo 13U Pitcher: "Everybody, just sprinting toward me just screaming "yeah" and all that. That was just awesome"

What makes it even more awesome, is that it sent these Fargo 13-year olds to the Babe Ruth World Series, A postseason finale that only 10 teams in the country get to play in.

Jonas Sanders- Fargo 13U INF-OF: "It feels pretty good because not a lot of teams get to go to the World Series and it's a privilege to be on a team that does."

Chandler Ibach- Fargo 13U Catcher: "It's awesome just to represent the state. I hope we play hard there!"

The story got even better when Coach Mat Sanders found this in his basement. It's a program from the last time a team from Fargo made the Babe Ruth World Series back in 1984. His brother, Pat, was on that team.

Mat Sanders- Fargo 13U Asst. Coach: "It actually never even occurred to me until I saw the press release that came out from Babe Ruth and they didn't know when the last time a World Series team from Fargo was and it kind of took my breath away at that moment that Pat was on the last one."

Pat passed away in car accident in 1990, so for Mat, memories like that 1984 world series are what he holds onto.

Sanders: "What I remember most was probably regional when my brother scored the winning run that brought them to the World Series. I just remember that moment with the fans and players running out onto the field."

Ironically, Mat also has a connection with the player that scored the winning run to send this year's team to the World Series. It was his son Jonas.

Sanders: "It's just cool knowing that my uncle went to the World Series, also, and I will too."

So, this weekend no matter where Fargo finishes, this team and this father and son will have memories to last a lifetime.

Sanders: "It does make it special! The goal is the same, to go win it, but it will be in the back of my mind that both were there."

North Dakota has 3 teams in the World Series, Grand Forks is there along with the hosts from Williston, tourney begins Saturday.
