Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- If you turned on the Vikings preseason game a couple minutes late last night, you most likely never got to see Christian Ponder
and the rest of the first team offense for the purple.
Ponder played just two plays, he hooked up with Jerome Simpson for a 15-yard gain on the first play.
And then, tried Simpson again, only to see it bounce off one of his hands and into the defender's gloves for an interception.
We knew that the first team would play only one or two series, but if you were like me you were wondering why they would even make them suit up for only two plays.
Christian Ponder- Friday Night: 1-2, 15 YDS, INT: "We understand the whole reason behind it. Number one, you don't want anyone getting hurt especially in the first preseason game. There are guys that are trying to make roster spots that need the playing time as well. We'll get plenty of time the next couple of games."
Leslie Frazier- Vikings Head Coach: "There was a temptation and I had to remind myself why we were going to go one series and we talked about whether it was 2 plays, 3 plays, or 10 plays. We'll have some opportunities to get our ones a lot more work. But, we really need to look at some other guys and find out who's going to be able to help out our football team."
Frazier also says that rookie defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd is fine after hurting his knee in the 2nd quarter.
