Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Members of the committee for a new city hall building in Fargo ditched the office today for a bus. They toured 18 different potential sites, 16 of which are in the downtown area.

Possible downtown locations range as far east as Mid-America Steel and as far west as Woodrow Wilson high school. Two potential sites not downtown include the south University K-Mart and land just west of the Cass County Jail.

Mayor Walaker says the tour was essential in the effort to narrow down the choices.

Mayor Dennis Walaker - Fargo: "We need to sit down in two weeks and discuss and try and reduce the listing of the possible sites down to, I don't know to what the magical number is, somewhere I think between 4 and 7. Then we need the architect to go through and list the advantages and disadvantages of each site."

The committee will meet four more times before making a final presentation to the public October 3rd.
