Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV)-- The Detroit Lakes school district is looking for a new high school principal. Steve Morben has resigned after 13 years in the position.

The news came suddenly late last week during a special school board meeting. Morben says he's been thinking about moving on for quite some time to pursue other opportunities. With school starting in less than five weeks, the district is busy trying to find someone to fill his spot.

Steve Morben - Resigning from Detroit Lakes High School: "I've very much enjoyed my 13 years in Detroit Lakes. It's been a great community for us to raise our family and now we're ready for a different chapter in our life."

Superintendent Doug Froke and school board members were not available for comment today.
