Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Two men are facing charges after police say they were caught car-prowling early this morning in Fargo.

Fargo Police say that 18-year-old Tyler Zimmerman of Fargo was spotted by a witness at around 3 AM going through unlocked cars near the 1500 block of 3rd street North. Police say Zimmerman produced an ID, linking him to a different theft. Zimmerman faces charges of theft from a motor vehicle, unlawful entry, possession of stolen property and possession of drugs.

In another case, 18-year-old Andrew Garza of Fargo is facing similar charges after police say a woman saw Garza exiting her parked car outside of her home late last night. Police say officers in the area spotted Garza running away. Garza is facing charges that include possessing stolen property, unlawful entry and resisting police officers.

LT. Joel Vettel - Fargo Police Department: "We just caution people and tell them the number one thing they can do is lock their vehicles. By simply doing that you harden yourself as a target, and you greatly reduce your chance of being targeted by these types of thieves."

Police say both men are linked to a number of different theft related cases in Fargo.
