Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - This summer, as part of WDAY'S 60th year on television, we are looking back at some of our six decades of memorable stories. With our 60-on-6 we have brought you some of the high profile stories that have changed our community...but, tonight, it's a look at 6 days in 1984 when a cat captivated our attention.

While many of us flocked to see GHOSTBUSTERS or INDIANA JONES in the summer of 1984, a north Fargo neighborhood got quickly preoccupied with BJ The Cat.

For five straight days the city watched as volunteers and emergency response crews tried to rescue BJ The Cat from high atop a tree - a noisy little cat that was keeping the neighborhood awake at night.

The cat would not come down, in fact, the more help that came to rescue it, the higher the cat would climb. Finally, on day six Fischer Tree Service came up with a MacGyver idea - find the branch the cat is on, cut it, and down BJ The Cat would come...it worked.

Six days of a 1984 summer; Hollywood had GHOSTBUSTERS, but Fargo had staged its own drama in a tree.
