Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- A giant blow-up pig greeted shoppers at a Fargo Walmart as a means of protest. The animal rights group "Mercy for Animals" is protesting the retail giant's pork suppliers.

They say they have undercover video proving pork producers use small stalls for the sows that are dangerous and cruel. Some states have banned the use of the stalls. Other big box stores have required pork producers to stop using them.

Jeni Haines - Mercy for Animals: "Consumers have the right to know about the horrific ways about Walmart is abusing pigs, and the have the power to send a powerful message to Walmart."

NDSU hog experts tell us science and research indicate the stalls and systems used by producers are safe and efficient when used correctly.
