MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The site director of the Ward County Historical Society Pioneer Village says many of its visitors support keeping the museum on the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in Minot.

Sue Began tells the Minot Daily News (http://bit.ly/13vWvV3 ) that about 3,700 people visited the Pioneer Village museum during the recent North Dakota State Fair. She says 1,000 people signed a petition in support of keeping the museum on the fairgrounds and moving an old schoolhouse to the museum grounds.

The State Fair Board wants to relocate a road that would require the museum to move off the fairgrounds. The board has given the historical society until September to come up with a relocation plan.

The historical society says a 1966 contract allows its museum to be on the fairgrounds.
