Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- The man accused in the death of more than 100 horses in Morton and Burleigh Counties is pleading guilty to charges.
William Kiefer was a no show in court today, as his attorney entered the pleas.
Kiefer is charged with nine counts of abuse and neglect of animals.
His attorney is working on a sentence of 120 days of electronic monitoring and 2 years of supervised probation.
His attorney says Kiefer suffers from depression and other mental illnesses, and that led to the animal abuse.
Charlie Stock- Defense Attorney: "Mr. Kiefer has a deep affinity for equine animals and this just got out of control for him."
Kiefer will be sentenced after a mental evaluation.
There also might be a stipulation that Kiefer can't own any livestock while on probation.
