"Bare" the musical is playing at Island Park

Minnesota (WDAY TV) -- Fitting that the day same-sex marriage becomes legal in Minnesota, It's opening night for a controversial musical about the love story of two gay teens.

Minnesota (WDAY TV) -- Fitting that the day same-sex marriage becomes legal in Minnesota, It's opening night for a controversial musical about the love story of two gay teens.

"Bare" is being performed at the Stage in Island Park. The setting is at a co-ed catholic school. It's about two boys wrestling with identity, sexuality and religion, as their in love with each other.

When asked about the controversial nature of the script, the director says she searches for plays that force people to have a conversation.

Rebecca Meyer-Larson, Director of Bare, says, "we want to be respectful first of all, this is a momentous moment for human rights. We've talked a lot about the love story between Jason and Peter and that we're on the right side of history."

Bare hits the stage again tomorrow and Saturday starting at 7:30. Then again August 7th through the 10th again at 7:30.
