Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A group raising money to help a Fargo woman who is fighting for her life is shocked after two people made off with their donations.
Now, friends and family of Danielle Olson are working with law enforcement, trying to track down the thieves.
Matthews: "She'll do anything for anyone, help anyone."
Joann Matthews is devastated after the fundraising efforts for her niece, Danielle Olson, were stolen.
Fredrickson: "Her health has declined in the last couple of years."
Danielle was diagnosed with a form of lupus back in 2005.
Matthews: "Since then she's had a lot of kidney problems, a lot of liver problems. It has attacked all her organs.."
On top of that, an 8-year-old son she raises alone.
Matthews: "She fights this disease tooth and nail"
Members of the Spirit Lake Riders put out donation jars at two Fargo Loaf 'N Jugs, Themed "dollars for Dani", and the dollars started rolling in.
Matthews: "I checked the jar on Saturday and it had quite a bit of money in there."
But when she went back to the north Broadway location...
Matthews: "when I stopped in on Monday, the jar was gone"
Bannerman: "I was shocked, heartbroken. We really try to help out our community up here."
Authorities say the thieves stole the jar around 2 o'clock on Sunday morning. Even though there weren't too many people working at that time, everything was caught on tape.
Here's a look at the surveillance video, you can see, without a clerk behind the counter. Two people snuck it and spotted Danni's jar.
Matthews: "A girl and a guy."
Then gave it a good shake, and ran off.
"That is about the lowest people can get. Steal from someone who is having a rough time themselves."
So they're asking anyone who recognized these two, to contact Fargo police.
Spirit Lake Riders is holding a benefit for Danielle Saturday August 17th.. You can also help by donating to "dollars for Dani" at any Gate City Bank.
