WEST FARGO – A man is dead following a collision on Interstate 94 west of West Fargo this morning.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol received a call just before 6 a.m. on a report of the two-vehicle crash.

Troopers arrived to find one car in the ditch and a pickup truck in the median that had rolled.

The driver of the pickup that rolled was ejected from the vehicle and found dead at the scene, according to state troopers.

The other driver was taken by a private vehicle to a Fargo hospital where he was treated for what appeared to be minor injuries.

That driver told troopers that he and the pickup driver were east-bound on the interstate. The driver of the car was trying to pass the pickup when a rear-end type of collision occurred.

Rear-end collisions of this type are unusual on an open interstate but not unheard of, according to Sgt. Dave Wolf of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
