Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- The NDSU soccer team will have a new homefield this season. The former home "pitch", Ellig Sports Complex, was too small by NC-double-A standards. So the Bison will play home games on the turf of Dacotah Field beginning this fall, which IS regulation size.

To go along with the move, new bleachers have been added to Dacotah, along with a new scoreboard, new press box and new dugouts-slash-benches.

The move was made possible because of the new turf "practice field" being put in for football, and will give soccer games a whole new feel this fall.

Gene Taylor- NDSU Athlectic Director: "Now soccer has a field that's NCAA standard. For years and years, they didn't like to play on those

kinds of fields. It was supposed to be always grass only. Now that's an acceptable field to play on, so it kind of fell into place when we added this field it really opened up the flexibility for soccer to come over. We still use it for football practice facility and for soccer game and practice facility."

The turf on the football practice field is being laid down as we speak,

Taylor says the football team will open practice at Dacotah Field on Saturday and find other fields to practice on around campus until the new turf is in place, which could be a full week.
