Minneapolis officers suspended, confrontation investigated

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A newly released police report in Green Bay, Wis., is shedding light on suspensions of two Minneapolis police officers.

The officers were suspended Friday without explanation.

The Green Bay report says the off-duty officers used racial slurs to describe a group of black men they scuffled with on a sidewalk during the early morning hours of June 29. The report says the officers, who are white, had been drinking.

The Star Tribune reports the officers felt Green Bay police weren't doing enough to find the men involved in the confrontation so they went to a police station to complain. It says the officers went back to their hotel after an expletive-laden rant.

Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau apologized Tuesday to Green Bay police for the officers' behavior.
