Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- It's a day of mixed emotions in Grand Forks as a building filled with great memories is being torn down.

The old Ralph Engelstad Arena demolition project began with current members of this year's hockey team watching.

Brad Berry- UND Assistant Coach: "It's sad to see it go; obviously change brings new life and opportunity for a lot of people it's part of our history and culture."

Jim Scanlan- Former UND Assistant Coach: "You see this for all the memories the building invokes bittersweet to see it come down no question."

Rocco Grimaldi- UND Sophomore Forward: "It's pretty sad to see a piece of tradition to come down no question going to stand forever hopeful we can do something special in the new building and be the first team to bring a championship home."

The old Ralph is being torn down so UND's new indoor practice facility can go up.
