Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A Fargo man is facing two felony accounts after police say he broke into his ex-girlfriends apartment and assaulted. The incident happened at the 1700 block of 39th Street in south Fargo.

Police say 38 year-old Jason Mayse of Fargo broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment at around 2 AM Wednesday morning. Authorities were called to the scene after a call came in that the woman was screaming for help from her third-story balcony.

Police say when they arrived they found blood on the walls and the woman trapped inside the bathroom with obvious injuries.

Lieutenant Joel Vettel - Fargo Police Department: "We aren't sure what his motivations were for that. The obvious motivation is the intent of entering the apartment. I think, from what I gather, there was at least some sort of verbal exchange, and, again, there was certainly a physical altercation that escalated."

Police did not say whether or not alcohol was a factor.
