Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Jon Ammerman knows full well what's expected of him

behind the bench at Moorhead High, and he says he's ready for it.

The former defenseman for the Spud hockey team, now 26 years old was

introduced as the new head coach and I asked him if that title has sunk in.

Jon Ammerman- New Moorhead Coach: "These last 5 to 10 hours have been a whirlwind..I'm really excited about the opportunity; haven't had time to sit down and think about it just yet

it'll start to sink in a little bit maybe next spring come back and ask me

that question."

As a defenseman is that the you want to play and in your face; especially in high school and college or do you have a different philosophy you

want to take to the ice?

Ammerman: "Moorhead Hockey has always been skilled up tempo style; play on your toes; don't see anything changing about that we want to bring the game to the opponent."

I talked to Coach Morinville and he mentioned you specifically watch this guy he has a chance to be something special what goes through your mind when you hear that?

Ammerman: "It's a honor; had a lot of people support me; pretty excited about working with them to continue the program in a good direction."

So fresh out of the game is that an advantage since you just stopped

playing?

Ammerman: "Well I think so the game continues to change and evolve and for someone who's played under some incredible people I hope their tuteluge shows on our ice over there."

Ammerman will be officially recommended by the Moorhead School board on August 12th.
