Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Law enforcement and fire fighters from Fargo squared off today for the 7th annual Battle of the Badges blood drive.
Mayor Dennis Walaker got the tug-of-war competition underway and to everyone's surprise it was the police department squeaking out a rare win.
The friendly tug-of-war competition kicked off the four-day blood drive where donors will have the chance to choose which organization to donate on behalf of: either Team Law or Team Fire.
Paul Laney- Cass County Sheriff: "All the fun aside, all the smack talk aside, what matters is we step up as a community, we get the blood donated we need to get donated and we save those lives that need to be saved."
To donate blood, volunteers must be at least 16-years-old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health.
