Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- A North Dakota judge has blocked a strict abortion law set to take effect in just 9-days.

U-S District Judge Daniel Hovland of Bismarck granted a temporary injunction that now blocks the abortion law that was to take effect August One.

That specific law banned abortion at six weeks, when a heartbeat is detected.

The law was one of 4-abortion laws the legislature passed and Governor Jack Dalrymple signed--making North Dakota the most restrictive states in the nation to get an abortion.

Tammi Kromenaker- Red- Red River Women's Clinic: "We fully did expect it to come and obviously it is a relief and we are very pleased and we are glad we have the ruling in hand and we are glad that august first we can provide services to women in our state."

The Center for Reproductive rights said the message to hostile politicians could not be clearer.

And, the rights of women, guaranteed under the Constitution, cannot be legislated away.
