Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Hundreds of youngsters have traveled hundreds of miles. To help change the lives of families living on our communities.
They're here for a Christian based "Workcamp" called Group Mission Trips. Volunteering for week-long service projects across the county.
With their saws and hammers.
Chelsea Haynes- Auburn NE Volunteer: "We started getting piece by piece."
And a big pile of materials.
"We built one ramp then built the other."
Volunteers like first-timer Chelsea Haynes are putting their hands together during this year's Christian mission trip.
Haynes: "that's something I want to do. That's something I want to be a part of. It would be super awesome."
Grechen Grant- Idaho Falls. ID Volunteer: "I just get this message from God that says hey you need to go help these people so you get a little bit closer to me in a way and also help people who need it more than others."
Nearly 400 kids have been working throughout the week to help families in the Glyndon-Hawley area finish projects they couldn't do themselves."
Char Jankowski-Rudolph Home Owner: "It's wonderful, I am so amazed."
Char and her husband Roger have lived here for years, but like their home, are beginning to age.
Haynes: "I was really excited about it because you don't know their situation or exactly what they need."
For Char and Roger, it was wheel-chair accessibility.
Grant: "I've never had a project this big before."
In the front, and the back.
Jankowski: "They're so kind and just over and above."
Far exceeding Char's highest expectations.
Haynes: You can see the appreciation that they have and just how it touches their hearts. And every time they use it, they'll know how much we care about them."
Feelings built here, coming from all over the country.
All of the volunteers stayed the week at Hawley High School. With different groups completing projects at different work sites.
