Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- Students, faculty and staff from Rasmussen college are spending their day giving back to people in need.

As part of the college's 5th annual community service day, about 35 volunteers helped out at Churches United for the Homeless in Moorhead.

They worked together to cleanup the shelter's surround areas. As well as helped stock food shelves inside the building.

Each year Rasmussen staff help pick a stop in our community that could use a helping hand.

John Smith-Coppes- Campus President: "You know we're committed to our communities. We actually have campuses in 24 cities across the United States and as a regionally accredited college, part of our mission is making sure that we're showing back to our communities. So this is our way of doing it."

In all 1,400 workers took the afternoon off to volunteer.
