Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Downtown street fair is going green this year.

The Downtown Community Partnership is looking to increase sustainability. Plastic recycling containers will be available in the food court and the U.S. Bank Plaza.

Vendors will have the opportunity to recycle cardboard, which is usually the major source of waste from this event. There are also several vendors who specialize in things like reused silverware and reclaimed wood.

Amy Nash, Downtown Community Partnership: “We figured why wait, you know, we just needed to get on to the bandwagon of going green with everything that we do as much as we can. We are one of the few communities to have a sustainability coordinator so I'm trying to make big efforts with that and our entire team does.”

Minnkota and the City of Fargo is helping out with the recycling efforts.
