Henning couple gets married at the demolition derby

Henning, MN (WDAY TV)-- We have heard of weddings under the sea, or on top of mountains. Football games, even marathons.

Henning, MN (WDAY TV)-- We have heard of weddings under the sea, or on top of mountains. Football games, even marathons.

But in Henning, Minnesota, the Demolition Derby hosted the "I DO'S" between John Jorgenson and Jess Holcomb.

Who knew smack dab in the middle of the Henning Harvest Festival Derby. Fender Bender love could be found in the midst of the flying dirt and debris.

"My personal is the thrill of getting out there and making the hard hit."

The both fix up and drive Derby Cars, and so when the two met recently at an area derby. Well, it was all bumper and body business.

They have heard it all. Comparisons to Duck Dynasty and Redneck Weddings.

And so, as the Henning Demoltion Derby got underway, John and Jess, along with a few friends and smashed up cars, got married in the pit.

They heard it all. Comparisons to Duck Dynasty, Redneck Wedding, you name it. Didn't matter.

Jess Jorgenson- Married at Demo Derby: "Just because it was cheap and we both love derbying."

Nothing fancy. A real budget saver. No high end flowers, photos. Just true love at the derby.

John Jorgenson- Married at Demo Derby: "It was her idea to get married at the derby, so heck ya, we had to do it."

Jess sat out this derby. But she plans to drive. As her new husband John careened and crashed his way to a trophy in the muck and mud. Jess was in the stands. A new bride, still wearing a garter, cheering on her champion derby driver. Even the car alerted the crowd his status had changed.

The couple says it plans to work on building another derby car this winter, so they both can compete next summer at demolition derby events.
