Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)-- The largest high school wrestling tournament in the "world" is in Fargo this week. But the wrestling "world" was shaken to its core in February, when the International Olympic committee dropped the

sport from the Olympics beginning in 2020.

Bruce Baumgartner, the most decorated U-S wrestler of all-time with 4 Olympic medals, was in Fargo as part of this week's Cadet and Junior Nationals.

Baumgartner is on the board of USA wrestling and, like everyone, was stunned. Since the announcement, the International Wrestling Federation has changed leadership, hired consultants and changed rules, in an effort to get the sport back in the Olympics--a place it's been since 1896.

Bruce Baumgartner- 4-Time Olympic Medalist: "I was shocked like the rest of the world was shocked. We had indications wrestling would be on the Olympic program in perpetuity. The outcry thoughout the world, not just the USA, was significant. I feel confident with the corrections that have been made, the outcry from the wrestlers themselves, the media, the overall sports community, that wrestling will be back in 2020 and beyond."

In September, the IOC will vote one of three sports--wrestling, squash or baseball/softball--into the 2020 Olympics.
